WORDSPIRED MOMENT OF IMPACT | Day 10: At the Root of Singleness is Understanding by Kay J-Daniels

Day 10: At the Root of Singleness is Understanding

Meditation:
Singleness is so crucial because it defines the whole essence of human existence. Singleness is all about self-discovery, which leads to destiny recovery. It reveals the unique, whole, and complete nature of man as designed by God. Even though man is a spirit that possesses a soul and lives in a body, all three entities function as a single block.

Before man could come forth, God had to speak to Himself, and the spirit man appeared. He desired a body for the spirit man, so He went to the earth, spoke to it, and the body of man came forth. Via His nostrils, the spirit man was then injected into the body, and there came alive a soul—a living soul. This soul has an imagination (the ability to capture or envision spiritual possibilities), a memory (the ability to store or retain these spiritual possibilities), an intellect (the ability to think and process these spiritual possibilities), emotions (the ability to attract and feel these spiritual possibilities), and a will (the ability to make choices or decisions relating to these trappings in his soul). All these work together to empower man, granting him dominion over the earth and all of God’s creations.

The Spirit of God that birthed the spirit man was intended to lead the soul, while the activities of the soul were to be made real on the earth, thereby enforcing the will of God as it is in heaven. This is why, in the beginning, man consistently heard the voice of God walking in the cool of the day in the garden. That synergy between the Spirit and soul is what is translated as singleness, birthing wholeness or holiness. What Satan stole from man was his ability to live as a single entity with the Spirit of God.

Singleness can be likened to koinonia—the deep interaction between the Spirit of God and the spirit of man that activates the workings of the soul. When the spirit man was corrupted, singleness was interrupted. Man could no longer imagine godliness or godlikeness. He was deceived into believing that disobedience would make him like God. Furthermore, he lost his ability to retain God in his memory and knowledge: "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient" (Romans 1:28).

His intellect, which had been sound enough to name all the animals, became ineffective—he could not even clothe himself properly: "And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons" (Genesis 3:7). Emotionally, he became a wreck, giving birth to offspring who turned against each other, as seen in the story of Cain and Abel. The curse placed upon the earth limited man’s capacity to make meaningful choices. As a result, the soul could no longer effectively direct the body in the right direction.

To prevent this corrupted state from becoming eternal, God had to keep man away from the tree of life, which guaranteed the flow of eternal life:

"Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life" (Genesis 3:21-24).

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of singleness that You designed to bring completeness to my life. Help me understand who I am in You, aligning my spirit, soul, and body according to Your divine plan. Lord, restore every aspect of my being corrupted by sin and distractions. Let my imagination be filled with godly visions, my memory retain Your truth, my intellect be sharpened by divine wisdom, my emotions be centered on Your love, and my will be submitted to Your perfect purpose. Holy Spirit, lead me daily into deeper fellowship with You, so that my life may reflect Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
